Eke Ntolo was initially started to pass time
while still awaiting the release of Culture Spears
next album. The initiative which was started about
three(3) years ago by mainly Culture Spears
members went on to become a success after being
made popular by the comedy known as
Rra Mozara. The comedy is featured at the end of
each album's dvd and has so far seen the release
of Volumes1-3. The first album known as Emang
Basadi talked about Women's capabilities in the
society and it has six tracks among them Bomalala,
Maleli, Emang Basadi,1966 and Bomalome.
The second album or Volume 2 featured songs such as the title track; Chika Dance,
Mannana, Zimba, Jealous,Kgomo ya metsi and Ramozara. Most of the songs in the
album were a collaboration by Culture Spears members and the group(s) that worked
closely with them (Culture Spears) but one song (Jealous) was specifically sung by
one Lydia Oile who is a dancer for Culture Spears. The album was also a hit and
eventually it surpassed the airplay enjoyed by previous one more especially the then
everyone's favorite song Chika Dance. This album also gave birth to Charma Gal,
the lady made popular by leading Culture Spears' songs but on this album she
showed her versatility. From the second offering Eke Ntolo's star shone more brighter
as the third album or volume 3 as people prefer to put it became the most sought
after and listened among the local tunes. As a norm, Eke Ntolo volume 3 also has six
tracks which include the hit song Matebele which aslo happens to be the the title
track. The song is so popular that even five year
olds can sing a verse or two for you. The other
tracks in the album are; Mozara by
Mickey, Selelo (Charma Gal), Mokete (Mickey),
Johane 14 (Charma Gal), O boa leng (Mickey)
and the most listened to song Matebele by
Charma Gal.
The album is available in both Cassetes,CD and
DVD and it includes a comedy at the end of the
dvd. The comedy features the evergreen
RraMozara but this time around he is
accompanied by two of the funniest characters in
Rramonyaku and Rramokwetjepe as well as
Mozara. Believe you me, this is one of the best
locally produced comedies ever, however people
should expect more from the next album which is
volume 4. People should also not forget that
Culture Spears will be releasing their fourth
"traditional" album sometime this year,
just watch the space.......!
