CULTURE SPEARS
Culture Spears is a traditional dance group made of 5 young artists. The group was found in the banks of the
beautiful Chobe River in the Year 2005. Through hard work and dedication they released their first recording titled
KORONE. The Six-track album was a marvelous release to listen to. The album had songs like Selonyana which
talked about a lost lover,Korone, the spiritual song that depicted God as the Almighty King and Mmadikokwana
which depicted lack of proper parental care the children who can be exposed to different life hazards in life.

CULTURE SPEARS IN ACTION
The Groups first album “Korone”, became an instant hit after their first appearance
on National Telelvision in July 2005 in Mokgaragana Television Show. The songs
Selonyana and Mmadikokwana became household tunes and made them the
most sought out minutes entertainment slot during the President Holiday
Celebrations in Kasane, this propelled them to greater heights of demand which
left our President asking for more. To quench his thirst for the stunning performers
they were invited to entertain the President and the nation during Botswana’s
Independence Celebrations in 2005.
Culture Spears continued to climb the fame ladder through
the years, performing in all corners of the country. Their
album and presence was so much in demand that it sold 25
thousand copies in 5 months within the borders of Botswana.
Due to the quality of the music and good performance skills,
the album Korone found a new lease of life in South African
boarders where they signed a marketing and Distribution deal
with Keiko Productions.
The year 2006 was yet another year, Culture Spears had to continue the journey, and they released
KULENYANE, whoa! What a hit. The album which hit markets in September 2006 is a real success.
The hit Kulenyane was also an instant success being the first song to be played on urban radio
stations whiich used to shun traditional music. This album sold over 60 thousand units within
3 months. DD Promotions took the album to South African market where the album is doing wonders. To date Culture Spears
songs are household songs in South Africa and making them juggling between the two countries for performance and different
events. The group captured the hearts of Batswana and won the ever first music awards, scooping Artist of the year 2006 and
the hit Kulenyane was dubbed the song of the year. The group performs in corporate functions/activities in the likes of Orange
Kabelano, Mascom 6th birth, Botswana Sports Awards, 40th Anniversary Celebration, Botswana Police Commissioners farewell
party, Debswana Function, BBS and Ministry of Trade and Industry Performance Awards and many more Occasions.
In October 2007 the group made a caltural tour to France. While in France the group took part in different functions including
invitation by South African Embassy in France to celebrate South African Rugby World Cup victory. The group also performed
at the UN National Assembly. They were also invited by the Korean Embassy with the collaboration with KEA Cooperation to
perform at their function. The group has just released their third album called KHUDU. The album is doing well in the market.
The launching of the album has been a success. They also received a multi platinum sales award for Kulenyane DVD in
Johannesburg, RSA.
The group was invited to Durban for Presidential
gala dinner by the Presidient of the Republic of
South Africa.
Also the group has been awarded the
Certificate of Honour by the President
